Yesterday was the day that girls all over America were waiting for: The day that the My Little Pony: The Movie finally hit the theaters! We had the chance a few weeks ago to see a screening of it in San Diego.
Our First Movie Experience!
Seeing the My Little Pony movie was the twins’ first time in a movie theater-EVER! The AMC Mission Valley theater did not disappoint. The rows were pretty spacious, enough for Madeline to dance along to the song “One Small Thing”. The girls loved the songs in this movie! I also want to give a special thanks to Allied Integrated Marketing for providing these cute “My First Movie” certificates.
We Loved the Not-Scary Bad Guy
My one worry with taking 2 almost-5-yesr-olds to the movies was that the bad guy was going to freak them out. The Storm King (the movie’s prominent antagonist) is acutally a little comical, which makes him more of a mean bad guy than a scary one. You still don’t want him to “win”, of course. 😉
My Little Pony: The Movie has a Fun Cast and New Characters
All our favorite ponies appear in the movie, along with some new friends. I’m a big fan of anything pirate, so I instantly bonded with Captain Celeano (Zoe Saldana). The adorable Princess Skystar (Kristen Chenoweth) was my twins’ favorite. And the dark, mysterious Tempest (Emily Blunt) is the bad girl that you long to see make better choices. Her solo, “Open Up Your Eyes” was just amazing!
As we left the theater I was already downloading the soundtrack to the My Little Pony: The Movie so we could listen to Songbird Serenade’s upbeat “Rainbow” on the way home. Even Johnny loves this bubbly tune. You know a mom on the go and too busy to search stores for all our fave new Equestria friends, so I’ve ordered a few on Amazon. For Emily, I found a Princess Skystar SeaPony
And for Madeline a Rainbow Dash SeaPony
We can’t forget about Johnny so he gets this totally kick-butt looking hippogriff guy
Wondering what hippogriffs and seaponies have to do with My Little Ponies? You’ll have to see the movie! If you have a child who is into the My Little Ponies, she will definitely love this movie. It’s perfect for kids ages 3-11.
My girls were so excited to see their favorite Ponies on the big screen. Madeline’s favorite is Rainbow Dash and Emily’s is Pinky Pie. They are both their usual energetic/impulsive selves in the movie. Do your girls have a favorite Pony? Share in the comments below!
