About Me

5 years ago I had it all together. I had an adorable son, a good job, and a boyfriend who was absolutely devoted to me. I did everything right: I traveled, exercised, ate good food, went out with friends on the weekends to cool places. My world revolved around trying to be the perfect woman, and I thought I was doing a mighty fine job of it.

Shortly after my husband and I were married, we started planning for a family. And that’s when it happened. Or should I say, when they happened. Because in September of 2012 our twins entered our perfect world and totally tipped it upside down.

About me the rushed mommy

Not claiming to be an expert

I learned that I’m absolutely NOT perfect. There is a lot I can’t do and that I don’t know. All of those perfect little details that I had placed my personal worth in were shot to pieces. I had to pick them up and start all over again.

I spent months hunting the internet for answers, for stories that sounded like my story, and for solutions to my personal struggles. I wondered if any other people out there shared my experiences and challenges. To my amazement, I found that they did! I remember thinking one afternoon about all the questions I had Googled an answer for, and wouldn’t it be great if all those answers were in one place? So I started a blog.

Some of the posts on this site, like the time management ones, speak to the working parent. I am also always on the lookout for tips and tricks that make parenting easier, like my printable bedtime reward chart, or how we turned around our picky eater.

The transformation

When the blog started out it was called “Rushed Mommy” because that’s how my life felt with so many littles running around. I recently renamed it “Simply Sweet Days” because, over the past 4 years, I’ve made it a habit of seeking the positive. I strive to share that joy, fun, and positive attitude with all of you in my posts. But mostly, the heart of this blog lies in sharing about life with twins: Everything from expecting twins, to maternity leave, to why having twins is awesome. Because, thanks to my two little twinkies, twins are what started this whole blog thing in the first place. If you want to stay up on all the latest, add your email to our list here.

These are the kiddos who melt my heart. You’ll see the littler ones around here more than the older one 😉

I no longer claim to have it all together. I’m just a mom on a journey, learning to adapt to each curveball that comes my way. I’d love to share with you the adventures I have with my family and the new things I’m learning. So pull up a chair and grab a cup of your favorite beverage and let’s get to know each other, one imperfect person to another.
