I got some great news this week.
See how it says “date passed” next to all three of those tests? That’s right, folks. It’s been a long process, but I’ve finally passed all the tests necessary to apply for a bilingual (Spanish and English) teaching credential! I am soooooo excited! See? It pays to keep trying. it only took me 3 attempts but I finally did it!
The last test I passed was the hardest. Sadly, I attempted it 2 other times before finally passing it the third time. In my defense, it is a challenging test. The questions ask anything and everything about the history, geography, economics, and sociological norms of all South American countries and the United States in regards to Spanish speaking people. And I passed! Yay!
The best thing about passing is that now I can officially teach a dual language immersion class in the fall. Our school district is one of few in the area that offers dual language classes, and our particular school has bilingual classes from K-5th grade. I am thrilled that I have been offered the position to teach first grade dual next year.
I’m so looking forward to teaching using Spanish/English songs, poems, stories, writing projects, and infusing my instruction with sprinkles of Spanish cultural elements like ballet folklorico dances.
Language has always been my passion. I took French in high school and Spanish in college, and now I get to share my love of language with super cute children, through singing and dancing and coloring-yay!
