About five years ago I began a journey to live a healthier lifestyle. As I matured from my 20s to my 30s, it became painfully obvious that I wasn’t going to stay young forever. I got into a regular workout routine, counted my calories, and paid careful attention to the numbers on the scale.
Fast forward five years and three kids later, and I’ve definitely lost some ground in my healthy lifestyle journey. Attending the Green Moms Meet conference last October kind of lit a fire under my butt, so to say. I’ve regained my passion for choosing health and wellness. These days I’m taking steps to make sure I really know what’s going into our bodies. I pay careful attention to the ingredients in our food. It’s crazy how much Americans have chemically altered food over the last hundred years- all for the sake of commerce. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we could return to the wholesome farming industry of the past?
The a2 Milk Company™ is doing just that
By using an heirloom herd of cows, the a2 Milk CompanyTM brings pure farm fresh milk to shoppers in the U.S. These heirloom dairy cows produce milk that contains the A2 protein, a protein that is no longer found in today’s cows. The a2 Milk Company ™ is working with U.S. family dairy farmers across the country to expand the heirloom A2 herd. A2 cows naturally produce milk that is free from the A1 protein, which is linked to stomach discomforts from some milk drinkers. Plus, their farmers are certified in the humane treatment of animals, their cows are fed a vegetarian diet and never given hormones or rBST, and the milk is antibiotic free and contains no artificial ingredients or additives.
Why is all this A1 and A2 stuff a big deal?
Originally, all farmed mammals produced milk with the A2 protein, and this milk was easily digestible. But as time went on herds migrated across the U.S. Greater demands for milking caused greater stress on cows and this, coupled with the need to adapt to environmental changes, caused the new A1 protein variant to appear in milk. Most dairy cows in commercial farms are now producing milk that contains the A1 protein. This protein has been found to be at the root of many symptoms that cause discomfort for self-diagnosed lactose intolerant people (diarrhea, abdominal pain, gas/bloating). However, people with self-diagnosed lactose intolerance are able to drink a2 Milk® without hurting their tummies!
a2 Milk® only comes from heirloom a2 cows. If you ask me, this is like the milk that the cows in the garden of Eden were producing: Good for everyone, the way it was meant to be.
Ready for some happy tummies?
I’m sure by now you’re wondering where you can go to get your hands on this pure farm fresh milk, right? a2 Milk® can be found nationally at Sprouts or use this store locator to help you find a store that sells a2 Milk® in your area.
I’m excited to share that the a2 Milk Company™ has brought me on board as a Brand Ambassador. My family got to sample their milk and it’s delicious! Which makes sense because it’s just like milk from any other brand, except it’s got that special “easy on the tummy” A2 protein in it. You can learn more about their milk by visiting their website or following them on Twitter or Facebook.
Cheers to happy tummies!
