Family Time on a Short Week

How can it be that a 3-day work week was so stinkin tough? I have no idea, but it totally was! We had Monday off for Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday, and I have flex Fridays, so I only really had to work Tuesday through Thursday. And let me tell you, I about crumbled in a tired heap each night. Getting in some family really time took some effort this week.

Maybe it’s that I’m not getting enough sleep? I swear, if it’s not one little guy, it’s another waking up in the middle of the night. Some nights 2 children are crying or out of bed. It’s just too much for a Mama who gets up before 5 a.m. for work every day!

Anyway, we managed to snag some fun moments together.

The big guy went to an all-nighter with the youth group. Actually, it was a ‘glowvernighter’, with a heavy emphasis on black lights and all things glowing. He was pretty stoked about a brief dance party they had. My little big performer, haha! IMG_5102

We visited my parents and checked out the new playset they installed for the grandkids. My mom and dad are pretty awesome 😉

Monday was the first day in who knows how long that my husband and I were both home ALL DAY! We celebrated with breakfast at Denny’s 🙂

It’s one of the few places we can go with this many loud children!

John’s school books arrived in the mail, which means another box. This photo was taken with John’s phone so it’s kinda blurry, but you get the idea. No need to buy fancy toys in this house!

I was feeling a little gloomy Wednesday on the way to work, until I realized- I work a mile and a half from the beach in Southern California. I think life could be a lot worse, for Pete’s sake. 😉 This is the parking lot of our school. It’s so close to the ocean that we get some pretty heavy morning coastal fog. I love the palm trees and blue sky peeking through the clouds.

One last pic: Emily got an ‘owie’ when she banged her hand against the underside of the table. because a) it wasn’t bleeding and b) we were out of band-aids, Daddy covered it with a My Little Pony sticker. Ha! It worked better than the gauze and tape we used for this other ‘injury’.

So how was your week? How did you get some quality family time in?
