Yup. This girl. I have a big big big big big (really big!) exam in exactly 10 days. It’s actually 3 exams: 2 that are about Hispanic history and educational bylaws surrounding bilingual education, and one that is on my fluency in Spanish. I should be studying right now, but the twins are napping and I almost never get to sit down anymore and simply be a part of the internet. So that’s what I’m doing instead. Besides, remember back when I posted about this?
I managed to postpone jury duty until the week after Winter Break (I am so NOT going to waste my vacation time sitting in a stuffy courthouse). So, 2 days before my exams while waiting to be called or sent home for jury duty is when I plan to study. That should be enough time to learn anything and everything about Latino history, culture, and education laws pertaining to Latinos, don’t you think? Ugh. I’ve worked in predominantly Spanish-speaking schools for 7 years, so I’m not worried about the bilingual or the culture part. I get that. I have worked closely with Latino families for 7 years, lived in San Diego my whole life, taught my students balet folclorico dances and even danced in a few myself. But the history of the educational laws books are a real bore! And in case you can’t tell, I’m whining. I want to get my bilingual credential but, as you may have noticed from this post, I can easily (and more enjoyably) spend a whole day getting nothing done instead of doing boring old studying.
Wish me luck, I’m going to need it.
