My husband and I celebrated our third anniversary last week. I know, we’re just babies when it comes to our marriage. Here’s what we did to have a great anniversary weekend, kids and all.
Husbands, give your wife a traditional anniversary gift. The third year is supposed to be a gift of leather, here’s how my husband managed to give me a leather gift that was cost-effective, useful, and fun (he always remembers to include some chocolate, too!):
Wives, be a total slacker and don’t give your husband anything. Oops. I think he’s getting the better end of this marriage deal.
Book a vacation getaway that has all the comforts of home. We stayed at a little cabin that’s located in a park about 30 minutes from where we live. It was awesome. It had a full kitchen, air conditioning (no roughing it for us this time!), a bathroom and shower, fire pit, and a loft where my oldest got to spread out and have some space to himself. Actually, in some ways it was a lot better than our home. It certainly was cleaner!
Get outdoors and spend some time connecting with nature. We fed ducks… And tried to keep the twins from soaking themselves in the lake.
Have tons of fun. We brought along all of our favorite family board games. We really got a kick out of this Scrabble Slam Cards game (partner link). It had us laughing so hard at the silly words we’d try and get away with! I’m still not convinced that “laze” is a word…
Go sightseeing. We went downtown and checked out some tourist spots: Historic boats and the San Diego harbor!
So, maybe it wasn’t the most romantic anniversary, but for a couple with 3 children and one more on the way, it was a pretty fun way to celebrate our relationship!
