Shower Curtain Liner Cleaning Tip

Every few months we get a new curtain liner. They aren’t very expensive, and sometimes I’ve found a 2-pack at WalMart for a good price. But wouldn’t it be great to save those extra bucks and get that soap scummy liner back to its original clean state? This easy shower curtain liner cleaning tip will do just that. And it won’t take any longer than starting a load of laundry!

Here’s what you’ll need:
½ cup of Borax
3 or 4 everyday-use towels
1 dirty shower curtain

Steps for easy shower curtain liner cleaning:

Load the shower curtain and towels into the washing machine with ½ cup of Borax.Run it on the warm cycle. Then put the towels in the dryer as you normally would and hang the shower curtain back on its rings to dry.

Borax, baby! Cheap and easy!

A little wrinkly, but clean as new again!

This was so easy, I did it while dinner was in the oven and while holding a cranky baby. By bath time, the shower curtain was all clean again! Side note: We use the laundromat in our apartment complex. While I was taking pictures of my shower curtain cleaning tip, another woman was also there doing her laundry. She definitely thought I was some kind of kook, taking photographs of dirty laundry in the washing machine!

There are some amazing benefits to this curtain liner cleaning tip:

  1. The towels help to scrub the curtain liner clean (so you don’t have to!)
  2. The borax will take out the mildew smell from your towels, too, leaving them smelling fresh and clean.
  3. If you have a front-loading washer, Borax kills mold and mildew around the door seal.
  4. Borax is a great chemical-free and inexpensive household cleaner.

I’m all about saving time and money. Housekeeping hacks like this one are how a busy mom like me keeps her home clean while still having time to play with her little ones. Before I was a twin mom, it feels like I had a lot more ‘free’ time. Finding little tricks to keep my house tidy and save time also help me to keep on smiling. 🙂 So if you have any great housekeeping hacks, please share!
