What do you give to the husband and father who doesn’t want or need anything? This was my dilemma this year for Father’s Day. I mean, if money were no object I would have given him his heart’s desire. But we’re on a budget, so a brand-new Ford F150 is kinda out of my price range… for now 😉 So this year for Father’s Day I gave my husband a homemade gift: A special Father’s Day video of our kids talking about their daddy!

This video for my amazing, makes-so-many-sacrifices-for-the-family husband, features just our twins. I wish I had thought to plan ahead, but sadly I am not that girl. One the idea for the video just popped into my head, so I spontaneously decided to make it. When I did, Johnny was at daycare and Logan was camping with my mom. It’s a twins-only feature film!
So, here’s the truth behind the questions: I put very little thought into them, in case you couldn’t tell. 😉 Then, after I’d made the video I though of some questions that might have resulted in some cuter answers. Don’t get me wrong, I think my twins are the cutest, no matter what they say! But next year I’m going to use these questions. You can find them here in a PDF format in case you want to use them as well, or just right-click and save the image below.
John works nights and weekends, son I hardly got to see him on Father’s Day. That’s ok because I’m hoping to spend some time with him this summer once his summer school class lets out. We might even go on a date!
As father’s Day approaches, if you’re in the same boat and are looking to give thoughtful gifts without breaking the bank, you could totally do the same thing with just your cell phone. Take a quick video of your kids answering questions about their daddy and it would be a great gift! When I made mine, I put it all together with iMovie, which I use for a lot of stuff so I already have it on my computer. The twins’ interviews here were recorded on my Canon EOS Rebel that I’ve used for years and absolutely love! My Sunpak tripod kept the camera steady, but really any DSLR-compatible would do.
Whatever you do, I hope your Father’s Day is memorable and filled with love.
