Day Dreaming of Paradise and Acting Like a Kid

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #spktropicalsweepstakes #CollectiveBias

I figured out today what makes being a kid so awesome. It’s not the fact that you don’t have to go to work or take care of big responsibilities. The thing that gives kids that carefree, joyous outlook on life is that fact that time has no control over them. Kids get to just breeze through life without being burdened by worries about being late or meeting deadlines or accommodating everyone’s schedule.

So What’s Holding Me Back From Joining in the Fun?

This weekend I set aside my time constraints and just acted like a kid. We went on an adventure to Cabrillo Point, our nearest National Park (thank you Free National Parks Weekend!). The kids were there too, but you guys see pictures of them all the time so here is proof that John and I like each other. 😉

We colored Easter eggs, blew bubbles, drew with sidewalk chalk and skipped baths Saturday night. Everybody survived and if I hadn’t told you about skipping baths, you wouldn’t have been able to tell that my kids were “dirty” at Sunday School on Easter Sunday because we dyed eggs instead of doing baths the night before.

It’s impossible to get all 3 of them to make a “normal” face.

High Hopes of Spending Time in Paradise

Another goofy kid-like thing I did was take a tropical selfie, giant hibiscus sunglasses and all. We’re living on a shoestring budget these days, so it would be so cool to win a free trip to Hawaii! I’d hang out on the beach, explore the island’s hiking trails and go to a luau. Think they’d mind if I brought along my flashy rainbow leis? 😉

What do you think? Are the glasses too much? ? • How awesome would it be to go on a trip to a tropical island? @SourPatchKids is giving one away in celebration of their new tropical flavor, available at @Walmart. All you have to do is post a tropical selfie with the hashtag #spktropicalsweepstakes. Check out my latest blog post for more info! AD
